Parcelforce Sorting Office (next to Temple Meads), Bristol
(Updated December 2014)
It's one of those buildings that is seen by thousands of people every day but no one really pays it much attention, as it has been derelict for so long.
I'd been wanting to do this one for a while but until recently haven't got around to it. Information on the history of the building seems to be quite scarce so not able to provide anything to speak of. The links with Temple meads station were certainly a high point! It seems to have been stripped of everything internally, although the odd detail remains. 2014...
The end of 2014 sees the demolition of the old conveyor bridges that stretch over Bristol Temple Meads. One night, whilst the men in orange were hard at work dismantling the conveyor, the gates weren't quite closed properly... I think you know where this is going!
A huge mobile crane was set up in a car park next to BTM, and over the Christmas break, the bridge was lifted out of the station and placed into the car park to enable workers to dismantle it.
